Battle on the Border Champions


The Hawks win the Triple Crown Tournament by putting together 5 straight wins. The team finished pool play at 2-0 with victories over the Ohio Orioles Black (12-2) and the Revolution Red (10-4).

The Warhawks ended up with the number 2 seed for the elimination round and had a bye for the first round. Their first opponent was the Pittsburg Diamond Dawgs where it took 9 innings to defeat them 5-4. The victory moved them to the semi-finals to face the Columbus Vipers. The Vipers jumped out front 5-0 but the Warhawks came to life when there backs were against the wall. Down 6-2 going into the bottom of the 7th inning the Hawks plated 5 runs, without an out being recorded, to win the game 7-6. This earned a spot in the championship game.

The championship game was the Ohio Warhawks versus PB Baseball. The offense final wakened after the last inning of the semi-final game and rolled over to the championship. The Hawks plated 7 runs in the 1st inning and did not look back. Scoring 16 runs and ending the game in a run rule after 4 innings by a score of 16-1.

2008 PRESIDENT'S DAY CHALLENGE CHAMPIONS


The U-15 Warhawks capture the Championship in the U-16 Division of the President's Day Challenge. The tournament was held in Cocoa Beach, Florida. The Warhawks finished pool play with a 3-0 record with wins over South County Crush (MI) 9-1, Aston American Legion (PA) 16-1, and Diamond Kings Baseball (NJ) 12-0. They advanced to the semi-finals to play the Maryland Falcons (MD). The Warhawks out slugged the Falcons in a 11-9 victory. The win put them in the Championship game against the Schaumburg Seminoles. The bats remained hot as the Warhawks scored 5 runs in the first inning. The final score was 11-3 giving the Warhawks their first tournament victory of the 2008 season.

UP NEXT


Will be in Cincinnati this coming weekend at the Ohio Valley BCS Regional.

This tournament will not be short of some big names!!! Cincy Flames (host team), Schaumburg Seminoles, Columbus Cobras, South Oakland A's, Indiana Bulls, and the Bloomington Blue Jays to name a few. The field will consist of 28 teams and should be a great tournament.

Congrats Gahanna Lions!!
The Gahanna Lions defeat Pickerington Central 18-13 to win the District Title. A strong showing of Warhawks in this game, with a total of 7 players. Three from the 18 year old Warhawks and four from the 15 year old Warhawks.

There was a strong showing of Warhawks to support their teammates and the Organization.

Good Luck to the Gahanna Lions at Regional play!!!
